Vein Specialists of Tampa believes that involvement within our community through health education is an important and necessary component of our mission.
One such community event was a free screening, breakfast and medical information presentation. On February 12, 2011 our team visited Templo La Luz Del Mundo at 2606 North Macdill Avenue, Tampa, Florida (www.templolusdelmundo.org). The Reverend Castro, who has led this wonderful church for 30 years, invited Vein Specialists of Tampa to visit with his congregants and provide education to members about vein health.
Reverend Casto has created a large, active and well known spiritual organization in the Tampa area. The efforts of he and his wife to encourage the education of Luz del Mundo congregants as well as citizens of certain Latin American countries has been a career goal.
At La Luz Del Mundo, VST staff and Dr. Dworkin conducted a presentation on vein disease and latest therapies speaking in both English and Spanish. While congregants enjoyed a wonderful breakfast cooked by VST staff, our ultrasound team conducted portable screenings. Surprisingly, there were a number of attendees that reported typical venous insufficiency symptoms and indeed were found to have refluxing veins on ultrasound exam.
In summary, Vein Specialists of Tampa believes educating our community is an important component in the practice of medicine and surgery. We will continue to present information through unique events such as the one described above.
Dr. Dworkin has recently given community educational seminars at the following Tampa locations:
- Bayshore Presbyterian Apartments
